The No. 7 Alabama Crimson Tide made the trip out to Starkville, Mississippi in Week 5 for a ranked show down against Kamario Taylor and the No. 16 Mississippi State Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs got the ball first after Alabama deferred, but Taylor turned the ball over several plays into the opening drive after fumbling while trying to bring the ball back to his body.

The Tide recovered, and 3 minutes later sophomore quarterback Keelon Russell found star wideout Ryan Coleman-Williams on a screen pass and the speedster took it to the house for the opening touchdown of the game.

This marked the ninth passing touchdown of the year for Russell, and the fourth receiving touchdown for Coleman-Williams, who has emerged as one of Russell’s favorite targets in the early going.

Russell was the top rated quarterback in the country coming out of high school a couple of years back, and is currently in his first season as the full time starter in Kalen DeBoer’s offensive system.

There have been some growing pains, but having a safety outlet as talented as Coleman-Williams to rely on has been massive for the true sophomore, and this opening score against Mississippi State shows why.
