Keelon Russell joins elite company with historic performance vs. South Carolina

Keelon Russell has gotten better each week this year for Alabama, and he took a major step in the right direction on Saturday night against South Carolina. He finished the game 21-of-27 for 355 yards and 4 touchdowns, while adding another score on the ground.
Last week, he had a game of at least 300 pass yards, 3 passing touchdowns, and a rushing score as well. He became the first Crimson Tide quarterback to accomplish that since Tua Tagovailoa did so in 2018.
It was just 2 weeks ago that Russell was making his first road SEC start against Kentucky, and things couldn’t have started off worse. The Crimson Tide started that game down 14-0 after the offense turned the ball over on its first 2 possessions of the game. However, since that moment, Russell has been everything Kalen DeBoer could want, and more.
He will make his second road start next week when the Crimson Tide travels to Starkville to take on Mississippi State in a battle between 2 of the best young quarterbacks in college football. Mississippi State is led by Kamario Taylor, who is off to an equally impressive start as Russell is for Alabama.
