The Kentucky Wildcats are making some changes in their Athletic Department, with the school officially announcing the hiring of Mitchell Moorer as the new Executive Associate AD for Player Development.

Per a post on the official Kentucky Athletics X account, Moorer is “bringing experience from college athletics, pro sports, athlete representation and the legal profession” to help lead the school’s “player management strategy.”

According to the attached press release, Moorer will be taking over a brand new position in the Kentucky Athletic Department that has been designed to “help guide Kentucky’s player management strategy across all sports, leading efforts related to student-athlete management, roster development, revenue-sharing and name, image and likeness (NIL) opportunities while ensuring compliance with relevant governance regulations.”

Moorer most recently served on a leadership team at Michigan State, where he helped oversee player management, performance analysis, legal and contractual matters as well as other administrative tasks.

Before that, he worked as an NFL player agent as the vice president at SportsTrust Advisors, and served in various legal counsel roles around the NFL and the Southeastern Conference.

Now, it looks like he’s bringing a wealth of experience navigating the legal complexities of the professional and college sports world to Lexington to help direct the future of Wildcats athletics.
