Kentucky announces sell-out crowd for marquee game vs. LSU

The Kentucky Wildcats fell out of the AP poll after winning at South Carolina in Week 5. That fact can serve as fuel to their fire for this weekend’s game against the LSU Tigers. Thankfully for Will Stein, his crowd should, too.

On Tuesday, Kentucky announced Saturday’s battle vs. LSU had sold out. The Wildcats also told their fans to wear blue for the showdown with the Tigers.

LSU (4-1, 1-1 SEC) is the No. 10 team in the country. Kentucky (4-1, 2-1 SEC) is unranked, but has a top 10 win on its ledger (at Texas A&M, Week 3).

The Wildcats can’t rely on the triumph over the Aggies to aid their College Football Playoff resume, though, because Mike Elko‘s team has fallen far from its preseason No. 8 ranking.

Beyond LSU, Kentucky doesn’t face another perceived top-tier CFP contender in 2026. The Wildcats will take on three currently ranked opponents (Tennessee, Florida, Missouri) in November, but the Bayou Bengals may be the biggest needle-mover amongst those squads.

A victory over the Tigers would also presumably give the Wildcats wiggle room for that stretch if it handled business elsewhere, which is far from guaranteed.

LSU and Kentucky kick off at 7:00 p.m. E.T. on Saturday (ESPN).
