The Kentucky men’s basketball team is headed to Philadelphia on Dec. 9 to take on Penn. CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein reported the news of the contest that’ll be held at the Wells Fargo Center.

The early season contest will be a homecoming for many Kentucky players with roots in the Greater Philadelphia Area such as Justin Edwards, D.J. Wagner, and Aaron Bradshaw. Rothstein currently has Kentucky at No. 21 in his rankings.

This will be the second meeting between the programs. In 2011, Kentucky defeated Penn 86-62 at Rupp Arena.

Kentucky finished with a 22-10 record and lost to Kansas State in the second round of the NCAA Tournament in head coach John Calipari’s 14th season at the helm.

Kentucky will get immediate tests in November with its regular season opener vs. Kansas on Nov. 14 and matchup vs. Miami on Nov. 28.
