Kentucky basketball earned a huge blowout win over No. 8 Miami on Tuesday night.

The Wildcats defeated Miami 95-73, picking up their first win over a power conference team this season. This was the Hurricanes’ first defeat of the 2023-24 campaign.

Freshman guard Reed Sheppard continued his play as he led Kentucky in scoring with 21 points off the bench. He made 8-of-13 field goal attempts and drained 5-of-9 shots from long range. Sheppard also added 4 assists on the night.

Sheppard wasn’t the only guard off the bench to have a big performance, however. Fellow freshman Rob Dillingham contributed a team-high 9 assists in the victory while also scoring 12 points and grabbing 5 rebounds. Dillingham also made both of his 3-point tries on the night.

As a team, Kentucky got great looks all night. The Wildcats made 59.7% of their field goal attempts and 42.9% of their 3-point shots.

Defensively, Kentucky held a powerful Miami team to just 44.1% shooting in the game. Kentucky also forced 15 turnovers in the win.

Kentucky will be in action again on Saturday against UNC Wilmington.
