Kentucky lands 2029 commitment from Southern California QB, per report

Kentucky picked up a signature win for Will Stein on Saturday, as it upset Texas A&M on the road.
On Thursday, the Wildcats gained a recruiting win by landing their first commitment for the class of 2029. That’s Southern California quarterback Marcus Washington Jr., who pledged to the program on Thursday, according to Rivals’ Adam Gorney.
Washington, from Cajon High School in San Bernardino, is currently considered a three-star recruit, standing at six-foot-three and weighing in at 178 pounds. He enjoyed a strong freshman campaign, throwing for 2,235 yards and 22 touchdowns despite 12 interceptions. On the ground, he totaled 91 carries for 681 yards and nine scores. Through the first four games of his sophomore season, he has 908 yards, eight touchdowns, and three interceptions passing, while running for 432 yards and five touchdowns.
The year 2029 is a long time from now. Presently, Stein is looking to continue shifting the program’s culture, and that includes the recruiting trail. His 2027 class is currently ranked No. 23 nationally and is headlined by Jake Nawrot, the nation’s No. 5 quarterback and No. 65 overall recruit.
Kentucky, which is off to a 2-1 start, gets a break from SEC action in Week 4 as it takes on South Alabama. Meanwhile, here are some of Washington’s freshman year highlights from Hudl:
