Kentucky has landed one of the top playmakers in the 2017 recruiting class.
According to 247Sports, four-star athlete Lynn Bowden (Youngstown, Oh. / Warren G. Harding HS) has announced he’s heading to Lexington to help the program continue its momentum after its first winning season since 2009.
โOver the past few years they were averaging 5-7, 7-5 records,โ Bowden said. โTo me that doesnโt matter because Iโm the type of person that can come change that. I know one man canโt win games by himself but Iโm confident and I know what Iโm capable of and I know what the players they have on the team are already capable of.โ
Bowden (6-foot-1, 185 pounds) is the No. 5 overall athlete in his class and ranks as a top-five prospect from the state of Ohio. He picked the Wildcats over finalists Penn State and West Virginia.
โFrom day one coach [Mark] Stoops has always been a real person, always kept in contact and checked on me,โ Bowden said. โBesides football stuff he made sure I stayed out of trouble, made sure I was doing what Iโm supposed to do in school and out of school, thatโs the bond I was looking for.โ
247Sports’ Steve Wiltfrong suggests that Bowden becomes Kentucky’s “most dynamic and versatile playmaker” since Randall Cobb walked the sideline. He has the ability to play multiple positions on sides of the ball and is deadly in the open field.
That makes 23 commits for Kentucky’s ’17 class, which gets bumped from No. 24 to 21 in the national team rankings.
