Kentucky got back in the win column on Tuesday night with a 75-63 win over Ole Miss in Lexington.
The victory snapped a string of 3 consecutive losses by the Wildcats inside Rupp Arena. They had lost games to Florida, Tennessee and Gonzaga prior to beating the Rebels on Tuesday night.
Reed Sheppard and Rob Dillingham both shot the ball well off the bench. They combined to go 5-for-9 from beyond the arc in the win and each scored in double figures. The rest of Kentucky’s team shot just 1-for-9 from 3-point land.
It was a huge game for Ugonna Onyenso, who tied a Rupp Arena record with 10 blocks in the victory. Onyenso was a dominant defensive presence at the rim in his 24 minutes of action. Onyenso also scored 8 points on 3-of-3 shooting.

This game was an important step in the right direction for Kentucky defensively. The Wildcats have struggled on that end of the floor, particularly during its home losing streak. But they held the Rebels to just .88 points per possession on Tuesday night. Ole Miss shot 45% from 2-point range and 23% from downtown.
Kentucky is now 17-7 overall and 7-4 in SEC play. The Wildcats will face Auburn on the road on Saturday.
