For the second time, Kentucky’s game against Detroit Mercy has been postponed. And this time, there’s no set date for when the matchup could potentially take place.

The Wildcats were supposed to face the Titans on Nov. 27 as part of the Bluegrass Showcase at Rupp Arena, but it was rescheduled to Dec. 15 due to COVID-19 safety protocols. Now, Kentucky announced on Tuesday that the game has been postponed again because of “concerns with COVID-19 protocols and calendar logistics.”

Because this postponement was due to testing and safety logistics, both teams are continuing to practice and play as scheduled. The Wildcats won’t find another opponent to play on Dec. 15, but it’s possible they’ll face Detroit Mercy at a later date to be determined.

Kentucky went 1-1 at the Bluegrass Showcase, beating Morehead State and losing to Richmond. That victory in their season opener remains the Wildcats’ only win to this point, as they’ve started the season 1-3, having also lost to Kansas and Georgia Tech.

With its tough start, Kentucky is no longer ranked in the AP Top 25 poll. However, there’s still plenty of time for the Wildcats to try to turn their season around.

Kentucky will next be in action on Saturday when it hosts Notre Dame at noon ET on CBS.
