Kentucky guard Otega Oweh and the Wildcats basketball team is gearing up for the start of the season, and there are high expectations as the Wildcats enter the season ranked as the No. 9 team in the country.

Not only is the media thinking big on Kentucky, but Oweh also believes this team can be special. When asked about what the team’s goals are, he said the team is going after a championship.

“We have guys who goals and aspirations to win it all,” Oweh said on SEC Tip-Off. “We have Denzel (Aberdeen) who won it. We can lean on him for that advice. On top of that, everybody is hungry and eager to get No. 9. I feel like that is what we owe BBN. Like J-Lo (Jaland Lowe) said, the lineage is winning championships.”

Oweh is one of the best returning players in the SEC, as he averaged 16.2 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.6 steals. He is very aggressive at attacking the paint, and his 77% from the free-throw line was a 13% increase from last season.

The Wildcats have some solid players returning in Collin Chandler, Brandon Garrison and Trent Noah. That is a very good core, but the job Mark Pope did in the transfer portal has Kentucky thinking about No. 9.

Jayden Quaintance had a terrific at Arizona State last year, as he was a late-season finalist for the National Defensive Player of the Year. Other guys like Denzel Aberdeen (Florida) and Mouhamed Dioubate (Alabama) also showed potential.

Kentucky is +1600 to win the National Championship this season, according to the latest odds at DraftKings. If you’re interested in betting on college basketball this season, here’s a DraftKings Kentucky promo code to help you get started.
