Key Louisiana DB could reportedly enter transfer portal, follow Billy Napier to Florida

Billy Napier may have a familiar face in the defensive backfield in 2022 when Florida takes the field. According to draft analyst Tony Pauline, cornerback Mekhi Garner could possibly transfer to Florida and join Napier in Gainesville.
Now that Louisiana's Billy Napier has been named HC of Florida, I'm told there's a very good chance cornerback Mekhi Garner follows him via transfer. The junior has been receiving 2nd round grades from scouts. #FloridaGators @GatorsFB

The redshirt junior was a JUCO transfer to the Ragin’ Cajuns before the 2019 season and played in 2 games in his first year in Lafayette. In 2020, he was an All-Sun Belt honorable mention selection after 3 interceptions in 11 games, including 8 starts. This season, he has registered 26 tackles and 2.5 tackles for a loss, including 0.5 sacks.
It’s an appealing option for Garner as he could remain with his college coach at his new stop while testing himself against SEC competition. And a successful 2022 could position him to make a further move up draft boards.
