Tennessee men’s hoops is set for another midweek SEC test as they will welcome the Oklahoma Sooners to Rocky Top on Wednesday night for a 7:00 pm tip with massive implications for the Volunteers.

Rick Barnes’ squad is still firmly in the mix for the SEC regular season crown, but they have very little margin for error down the stretch if they want to be in a position to challenge for the crown heading into March.

Tennessee should be able to dispatch the middling Sooners on paper, but they could be shorthanded as forward JP Estrella was listed as “doubtful” on Tuesday’s injury report. Tennessee insider Mike Wilson also reported on Tuesday that Estrella was “limited” in practice on Tuesday as well.

Estrella has served as a key rotational piece for Barnes’ so far this season, averaging 9.5 points and 5.2 rebounds a game off the bench while also playing solid defense for the Volunteers.

The redshirt sophomore has also served as a veteran presence for Tennessee this year, representing one of the most experienced players currently on the roster for the Vols. If Estrella is unable to go to Tennessee against Oklahoma on Wednesday night, it will be very interesting to see how Barnes navigates his bench.
