Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs have dealt with off-the-field issues the past few seasons and had another incident over the weekend as offensive lineman Nyier Daniels was arrested on Sunday morning.

Daniels, a former 4-star recruit from Newark, N.J., was booked at the Jackson County Jail. He is facing charges that include fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, along with two second-degree child cruelty charges. Daniels is also facing other driving-related charges.

On Monday, while talking to reporters, Smart announced that Daniels was no longer on the team.

“I know you guys want to ask about Nyier. I have not had a chance to talk with him or his family,” Smart told reporters. “Obviously, he will no longer be with us.”

Daniels played 29 snaps for Georgia this season. A redshirt freshman, Daniels played exclusively at right tackle when he saw the field this season.

The Bulldogs will look to continue their march to the College Football Playoff when they take on in-state rival Georgia Tech in Week 13.
