Kirby Smart gives injury update on several key Georgia players ahead of Week 11
It was far from easy, but the Georgia Bulldogs beat the Florida Gators 24-20 in Week 10. A loss could have drastically impacted the Bulldogs’ College Football Playoff chances. Entering Week 11, though, ESPN’s FPI now gives them an 85.6% chance at reaching the CFP.
If Georgia wants to remain ahead of the CFP bubble fray, it will need to beat Mississippi State this Saturday. Starkville’s Bulldogs (5-4, 1-4 SEC) have been a tough out all season and finally got over the hump — ending a 16-game SEC losing streak — last weekend at Arkansas.
Kirby Smart and Co. have narrowly escaped multiple losses on road and neutral fields this season. They’re going to get all they can handle on Saturday afternoon, and want all hands on deck for the game.
Fortunately, there’s a chance Georgia will have multiple players who were hurt against the Gators back for Week 11. According to Smart, linebacker Chris Cole and defensive back Demello Jones could play at Mississippi State, but defensive lineman Jordan Hall will be out “for some time.”
Jones is tied for 3rd on the Bulldogs in passes defended (3). Cole is Georgia’s fourth-leading tackler (27 total stops) and is tied for the team-high in sacks (3). The all-Bulldogs battle between Georgia and Mississippi State will kick off at 12:00 p.m. E.T. on Saturday (ESPN).
