Kirby Smart had some fun at Dabo Swinney’s expense during his weekly coach’s show this week.
Swinney made some headlines earlier this week when he responded strongly to criticism from a Clemson fan identified as Tyler from Spartanburg. Smart said he was hoping to dodge any similar questions from Georgia fans this week.
“I’m hoping we don’t have any questions from Tyler in Spartanburg,” Smart said with a laugh. “I’m trying to avoid that.”

Tyler from Spartanburg was critical of the way Swinney has run Clemson’s program in recent years and also brought up his large salary in relationship to Clemson’s 4-4 record.
For context, here’s an excerpt of Swinney’s comments from the full transcript of his speech:
“If you don’t like how I run the program, don’t be a fan. I don’t care. But I’m the head coach, and I’m going to do what I believe is right for the long term of this program, what’s best for the players and what I think is the best for the moment. If you’ve got a problem with that, that’s fine. I’m not gonna see you sit here and let you call. I don’t give a crap how much money I make. You ain’t gonna talk to me like I’m 12 years old. Gotta be freakin’ kidding me.”
Of course, it’s easy to avoid questions like Tyler’s when you’re 8-0 and have won the last 2 national championships.
Georgia will look to move to 9-0 on the season this week vs. Missouri.
