Kirby Smart previews facing Texas’s defense, Arch Manning for SEC Title

Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs will look to beat Texas for the second time this season as the 2 teams square off in the SEC Championship Game.
The Bulldogs dominated the game in Austin early in the season, winning 30-15 behind an overbearing performance from its defense. Linebacker Jalon Walker caused havoc throughout the game, finishing with 8 tackles, 3 sacks and 1 fumble recovery.
Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers is dealing with an injured ankle, and Smart was asked about the potential of having to stop Arch Manning on Saturday.
Smart was very complimentary of Arch Manning:
“As far as Arch goes, he’s what everybody thought he was… Athletic, smart, thick… He’s also an elite thrower and passer… You couldn’t write a better story for him as far as development to be ready to go and be a starter.”

Texas hasn’t announced any changes at the quarterback, but there is a good chance that Manning will find himself on the field at some point on Saturday.
Not only does Georgia have to worry about the dynamic Texas offense, but the Longhorns also have a great defense as well. Smart was asked about that unit and said they have played at a high level all year.

In the win earlier in the season, Georgia had its own struggles on offense. The Bulldogs had only 285 yards of offense, but Carson Beck threw 3 interceptions in the game.
Saturday’s rematch is set for 4 p.m. on ABC.
