Georgia coach Kirby Smart is widely recognized as one of the very best coaches in all of college football as he’s already won 2 national championships.
With that success comes the fame, meaning he no longer can just walk wherever he wants without being recognized by fans. During an appearance on Marty and McGee, Smart talked about how much he dislikes being noticed at restaurants, and how he goes about maintaining some level of privacy.
“Worst thing about those places is they want your name,” Smart told Ryan McGee and Marty Smith. “Right when I pull up, they go ‘can I get a name for that order?’ I always give my son’s name or my wife’s name or if they’re with me, somebody else. I don’t like giving my own name because that can turn into another conversation.”
While he is going to be recognized the majority of the time, Smart did say that the best is when they don’t know who he is.
“The best is when they have no clue, that is the best,” Smart said.
Georgia will kick off the 2025 season on August 30 when the Bulldogs host Marshall at 3:30 p.m. ET. One thing is for sure, everybody in that stadium will recognize the coach for the Bulldogs in that game.
