The No. 5-ranked Georgia Bulldogs kicked off their 2025 season with a dominant 45-7 win over the Marshall Thundering Herd in a game where a number of young players played in the second half of the blowout victory.
One player who was notably missing, though, was redshirt sophomore running back Roderick Robinson. After missing all of last season with injury, Robinson was expected to make an impact in 2025 in what’s become a very deep stable of ball carriers for the Dawgs.
As such, his lack of playing time in the season opener raised some eyebrows. According to Georgia insider Jordan Hill, though, head coach Kirby Smart told reporters on Tuesday that Robinson’s absence was due to a lingering hamstring injury.
“He’s dealing with a little bit of a hamstring,” Smart said. “He was going to try to go Saturday if he could. … He’s continuing to rehab, get better.”
Robinson has always had a ton of talent, but injuries have limited how much of an impact he’s been able to have at Georgia so far. As such, the hope is that this most recent hamstring snag isn’t something that keeps the sophomore out for to long.
It will be interesting to see whether or not he is able to suit up for the Dawgs this Saturday against Austin Peay, and how much of a work load he’s given should he be deemed good to go.
