Kirk Herbstreit encourages Pat McAfee to do live performance of new album on College GameDay

Pat McAfee is already one of the biggest stars in sports media. Now, he’s taking aim at the music industry with his recently released debut album, The Diary Of A Polarizing Figure. It’s a 14-track mix of country and hip-hop that reflects on McAfee’s life, career, and critics.
During a recent appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit gave his review of the album. Herbstreit is particularly impressed with McAfee’s lyrical prowess.
“Hopefully people are going to be able to not just enjoy the music but really listen to the words…You’ve got some great messaging out there. You’ve really got some strong lyrics and sent some really good messages I thought that I think we can all relate to and enjoy. It’s important to just enjoy the writing really…That’s not easy by the way.”

After McAfee explained that he’s been soaking up knowledge from the process of other writers, Herbstreit called for a performance request.
“Can you maybe do some on GameDay?” Herbstreit asked.
McAfee appeared open to the idea, so it’s possible those in attendance for College GameDay’s season debut in Baton Rouge for LSU vs. Clemson will get a live rendition.
Prior to his broadcasting and now musical career, the 39-year-old McAfee played punter for the Indianapolis Colts from 2009-2016, earning 2 Pro Bowl appearances. He was drafted out of West Virginia in the seventh round of the 2009 NFL Draft.
