Kirk Herbstreit always takes time to identify the players, coaches, and teams who impressed him the most after each weekend of college football action.

After a wild Week 12, the analyst had plenty to choose from. When it comes to coaches, Herbstreit identified 7 coaches with 3 of them coming from the SEC. The list also includes 2 coaches from the Big 12, 1 from the ACC and 1 from the Mountain West.

At No. 1, Herbstreit went with Kansas’ Lance Leipold. Leipold led his team to a road victory over a previously undefeated BYU team. The Jayhawks’ victory kept their bowl hopes alive and made the Big 12 race even more interesting.

Florida’s Billy Napier got Herbstreit’s second spot. The coach led his team to an upset win over the LSU Tigers, improving the Gators to 5-5. This was just the 2nd time all season that the Tigers had been held under 20 points.

The No. 3 spot went to Georgia offensive coordinator Mike Bobo. Bobo’s offense racked up 453 total yards of offense against an elite Tennessee defense. Carson Beck had arguably his best SEC game of the season, throwing for 347 yards and 2 TDs with no INTs.

Kenny Dillingham of Arizona State got the No. 4 spot after his Sun Devils took down Kansas State. The Wildcats were the No., 16 team in the country entering this game. At No. 5, Bronco Mendenhall got the spot after his New Mexico Lobos took down a ranked Washington State team.

The last SEC coach to make the list was Shane Beamer at No. 6. The South Carolina HC led his team to a big win over Missouri. Finally, Troy Taylor of Stanford was the final coach to be selected. Taylor’s Cardinal beat a ranked Louisville team.
