Kirk Herbstreit, Joey Galloway give thoughts on Alabama-Mississippi State

Kirk Herbstreit and Joey Galloway will be keeping a close eye on Week 5’s game between Alabama and Mississippi State in Starkville on Saturday.
Both teams enter at 4-0 with both quarterbacks playing at a high level. Keelon Russell is coming off a 365-yard, five-touchdown (four passing, one rushing) performance against South Carolina. Kamario Taylor threw for 360 yards and three touchdowns in a win over Mizzou.
Herbstreit and Galloway, during their “Nonstop” podcast on Tuesday, both think the Crimson Tide will come away with the win.
“Alabama just played a complete game. We hadn’t seen that yet,” Galloway said. “Florida State, the Kentucky game, Alabama didn’t look great early. They finished it.”
That said, if the Bulldogs can defeat the Tide for their biggest home win in some time, “get ready for all the hype,” Herbstreit added.
“If Mississippi State and Kamario Taylor, if they beat Alabama, get ready for the hype train,” he said. “It’s going to a whole different level, and I’m on board. We have to see if they can do it.”
Mississippi State went 4-0 to start the 2025 season, too. But things feel much different in Starkville this time around, with Taylor approaching hype not seen around the Bulldogs program since the Dak Prescott era. Meanwhile, the Tide will look to ride Russell’s arm as long as they can as they seek their first national championship since the 2020 season.
