Kirk Herbstreit receives extension from Amazon with notable catch

Kirk Herbstreit and Amazon Prime Video have agreed to a contract extension that will keep Herbstreit as a game analyst on Thursday Night Football beyond the 2026 season. Herbstreit is currently in the final season of his 5-year deal with Amazon Prime.
There’s a pretty significant caveat to be aware of, too. According to The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand, the terms of the deal specify that Amazon can move on from Herbstreit if one of its top targets becomes available. LA Rams head coach Sean McVay is reportedly one of these potential targets. Amazon previously pursued McVay in 2022.
While the exact specifics of the deal are currently unavailable, Marchand noted the deal is worth 8 figures and “multiple seasons.”
Herbstreit is a busy man. In addition to calling Thursday Night Football alongside Al Michaels, Herbstreit also calls college football games for ABC’s Saturday Night Football while appearing every Saturday on College GameDay.
This week, College GameDay is set to travel to Iowa City to cover No. 5 Ohio State at No. 14 Iowa in a massive Big Ten clash. The Hawkeyes are 4-0 on the year following a dramatic last-second touchdown lifted them over Michigan last week.
