For just the second time in the show’s tenure, ESPN’s College GameDay pregame spectacular will visit Nashville on Saturday to preview the game between the Vanderbilt Commodores and the Missouri Tigers. Kickoff for the Week 9 game is set for 3:30 pm and it will be telecast on ESPN.
ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit, who appears on the show before traveling to the site of the game he is calling later that evening, shared his excitement about having the show in the Music City.
The College GameDay home visit is the second for Vanderbilt in show history. Nashville also hosted the show on Oct. 4, 2008, when the 19th-ranked Commodores downed the No. 13 Auburn Tigers 14-13. Vandy also was a part of a College GameDay matchup earlier this season when the Commodores visited Alabama – losing 30-14 in Tuscaloosa.
Missouri hasn’t been a part of a College GameDay matchup since September 2014 when the Tigers faced the South Carolina Gamecocks. Missouri has been a part of 6 such matchups (only once at home in Columbia) and is 3-3 in such matchups.
Vanderbilt recently completed a renovation of FirstBank Stadium, which opened in 1922. Prior to the renovation, capacity was 40,350. Now, the stadium holds 35,000 – and includes upgraded South End Zone premium seats as part of Vanderbilt’s $300 million investment into its athletic facilities.
