Kirk Herbstreit was very impressed with Colorado superstar Travis Hunter after watching his performance vs. North Dakota State on Thursday night.
Hunter played all but 2 snaps in the Buffs’ 31-26 over North Dakota State. Offensively, he caught 7 passes for 132 yards and 3 touchdowns. Defensively, he played 36 coverage snaps and allowed just 3 receptions for 18 yards on the night, per PFF. The average depth of target on those catches was just 4.3 yards.
On Friday morning, Herbstreit shared some very high praise for Hunter — and even called him the best player in the sport:
Travis Hunter is as good as advertised. Talent-Instincts-and RIDICULOUS stamina. And now in his 3rd year has experience to go along with it. The guy is the best player is CFB!
So much fun to watch! https://t.co/LPCm0jeIfh— Kirk Herbstreit (@KirkHerbstreit) August 30, 2024
A former 5-star prospect, Hunter has established himself as one of the best players in the country entering the 2024 season. Few players in recent memory have had an impact like Hunter on both sides of the ball.
Hunter’s Heisman Trophy odds have risen as high as +1500 at BetMGM, placing firmly within the top 10. Hunter is as high as +2500 to win the award at some books, including FanDuel. FanDuel also has Hunter’s teammate, quarterback Shedeur Sanders, priced at +2500 to win the Heisman.
Hunter, Sanders and Colorado will see a big step up in competition next week when they take on Nebraska on the road. Last season, Sanders threw for 393 yards and 2 touchdowns in a blowout win over the Huskers. Hunter contributed 3 catches for 73 yards offensively in that game.
Kickoff for Colorado-Nebraska next week is set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
