Kirk Herbstreit threw some compliments towards the better coaching performances of Week 9 on Monday.
Former Georgia assistant and Oregon head coach Dan Lanning held the top spot on the list. Lanning coached the Ducks to a dominant win over Utah at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
There were other coaches on the list who had SEC ties as well. Brent Key (Alabama OL), Jedd Fisch (Florida GA), and Kenny Dillingham (Auburn OC/QB) were also featured.
Here’s how the list looked:
- No. 1: Dan Lanning, Oregon
- No. 2: Lance Leipold, Kansas
- No. 3: Brent Key, Georgia Tech
- No. 4: Jedd Fisch, Arizona
- No. 5: Jeff Brohm, Louisville
- No. 6: Dave Doeren, N.C. State
- No. 7: Kenny Dillingham, Arizona State
Here are my top performing coaches of WEEK 9
1- Dan Lanning @oregonfootball
2- Lance Leipold @KU_Football
3- Brent Key @GeorgiaTechFB
4- Jedd Fisch @ArizonaFBall
5- Jeff Brohm @LouisvilleFB
6- Dave Doeren @PackFootball
7- Kenny Dillingham @ASUFootball pic.twitter.com/LGNwbcJcLs— Kirk Herbstreit (@KirkHerbstreit) October 30, 2023
Leipold finished second after coaching Kansas to its first win over Oklahoma since 1997. Key and the Yellow Jackets upset North Carolina in Atlanta.
Fisch’s Arizona team upset No. 11 Oregon State. Brohm shutout Duke in a 23-0 win. Doeren led N.C. State to a win over Clemson, while Dillingham’s Sun Devils beat Washington State.
The teams as a whole played great, but the coaches who led them should also be recognized.
