The 2025 college football coaching carousel is shaping up to be one of the wildest in recent memory, with the number of high-level openings increasing after what feels like every single week of action.

The current list of programs looking for new head coaches now includes several prominent SEC teams, along with a few other big-time schools from the nation’s other top conferences.

There’s certainly no shortage of enticing coaching gigs that will have to be filled this winter. During a recent appearance on The Ryen Russillo Show, ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit stated that LSU stands out as the best job available because of its baked-in recruiting advantages.

“I think LSU’s the best job,” Herbstreit said. “I think it is because, you’re LSU, in the State of Louisiana ‚ you have competition, but nobody within the state. So, you’re recruiting in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Lafayette, everywhere. Everyone who grows up in that state they wants to play for the purple and gold. They want to play at LSU. So you’ve got an embarrassment of riches in your own state.”

When it comes to recruiting, it’s hard to beat everything the Bayou Bengals have going for them from an in-state and national perspective. This is what Herbstreit lays out here, and it’s sure to be a massive factor for whoever the next head coach in Baton Rouge ends up being.
