Kyle Pitts, Bijan Robinson have friendly wager on outcome of Texas-Florida game
Kyle Pitts and Bijan Robinson are proud to be teammates on the Atlanta Falcons, but that’s not what Pitt was talking about on Friday during an appearance on The Paul Finebaum Show.
Finebaum was doing his show from Gainesville, on the eve of Florida‘s showdown at The Swamp against No. 9 Texas. When the Gators and Longhorns kick things off at 3:30 p.m. on ESPN, Pitts and Robinson will put their loyalties to each other and the Falcons on hold for about 3 and a half hours while their alma maters clash on national TV.
And that’s what Pitts was talking about with Finebaum on Friday. Because Pitts was a proud tight end at Florida from 2018-20, catching exactly 100 passes for 1,492 yards and 18 touchdowns. He was a unanimous All-American in 2020 and captured the John Mackey Award that same season.
Meanwhile, Robinson was a proud running back at Texas from 2020-22, winning the Doak Walker Award in 2022 and being named a unanimous All-American that same season. Robinson rolled up 3,410 yards and 33 rushing touchdowns, and he piled up another 805 receiving yards in burnt orange.
Sure, Robinson never technically was an SEC player, because Texas was still in the Big 12 when he starred in Austin. But don’t tell that to Robinson, and definitely don’t tell that to Pitts, because when UF and Texas hook up on Saturday, all bets are off — or for Pitts and Robinson, all bets will be on.
Pitts discussed that pretty hilarious bet that he and Robinson will have going when the now SEC rival programs face off at The Swamp:
When Saturday’s game is over, Pitts and Robinson can go back to being full-time teammates on the Falcons. But on Saturday, not only will an SEC matchup be at stake, a lot will be riding on the outcome for Pitts and Robinson.
