Kyle Pitts and the Atlanta Falcons have agreed to a 3-year contract that will pay the former Florida star $54 million with $36 million guaranteed, according to a report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

The deal goes down as the largest 3-year contract for a tight end in NFL history.

Pitts is entering his 6th year in the NFL after starring for the Gators and being selected by Atlanta 4th overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. He totaled over 1,000 receiving yards his first season and posted another great year last season with a 928-yard, 5-touchdown campaign. Pitts so far has accumulated 3,579 receiving yards with 15 touchdowns and 248 receptions and has improved as a blocker across his 5 seasons.

There’s promise for the Atlanta offense. Michael Penix and Tua Tagovailoa make up the team’s QB room with Bijan Robinson and Brian Robinson Jr. in the backfield. The Falcons gave star WR Drake London a 4-year extension in early June and will now look to lock down Robinson. Now, Atlanta is looking for Penix to work his way back from an ACL injury as the Falcons look to escape 7/8-win purgatory.
