Lane Kiffin on future SEC competition: ‘Our schedule is like playing in the NFL’
Lane Kiffin spoke about Ole Miss’ future schedule at Thursday at SEC Media Days in Nashville.
Kiffin said the additions of Texas and Oklahoma for the 2024 season will mean the SEC will play an NFL-esque schedule moving forward.
“I actually joked to Steve Sarkisian yesterday, I don’t know why any coach would want to go to the NFL,” Kiffin said. “We’re in it now. I mean, our schedule is like playing in the NFL … especially adding [Texas and Oklahoma].
“Hats off to the commissioner for getting that done and making the super conference of all-time.”

Ole Miss’ 2024 schedule has already been announced. The Rebels will host Oklahoma in 2024. Other notable matchups include Florida, LSU and Georgia. Non-conference matchups include Furman, Middle Tennessee, Georgia Southern and Wake Forest.
Kiffin has NFL experience as well. He was head coach of the Raiders in 2007-08. He made that jump after spending several years on Pete Carroll’s staff at USC. But since his stint with the Raiders, Kiffin has only coached in the college game.
Ole Miss will open the 2023 season against Mercer in Week 1.
