Perhaps the biggest storyline entering the season for Ole Miss is how the Rebels will bounce back from a poor defensive showing in 2020.

Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin was asked about that on the SEC coaches media teleconference on Wednesday.

“I think we have a better understanding of the system and better players involved,” Kiffin said. “With young kids and transfers that sat out and current players who are in the system and had a whole offseason, we’re improved over there.”

While the offense is expected to be strong again led by QB Matt Corral, one interesting weapon is former quarterback John Rhys Plumlee, who has moved to receiver. Kiffin also updated his status.

“He’s been limited for a while from a medical standpoint, but he’s back in the mix now and had a good mock game,” Kiffin said. “We’re looking forward to him continuing to improve.”
