Lane Kiffin hilariously summarizes new ‘Lane being Lane’ book: ‘I can save you $33’

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve learned that Lane Kiffin is a one-of-one individual. Whether it’s mystifying, polarizing, or another adjective of your choosing, there’s a bevy of ways to describe the LSU Tigers‘ coach.
To friend Tim Mars, the most representative phrase for Kiffin is “just different.” He explained why to ESPN, who spoke to Mars during the midst of Kiffin’s legal battle with the SEC. During their conversation, Mars shared a text of Kiffin’s summarizing John Talty’s book, Lane Being Lane: The Story of Lane Kiffin, College Football’s Agent of Chaos, when excerpts were released on Sept. 2.
“I can save you $33 and lots of reading time by summing up the book this way,” Kiffin wrote to Mars. “Old unnamed sources say Lane used to argue with Saban, drink alcohol and hang out with hot women. New unnamed sources say Lane gets along with Saban, doesn’t drink alcohol, but still hangs out with hot women.”
While stating he believes Kiffin’s football IQ is “off the charts,” Mars knows it’s “Sunday through Friday” that makes Kiffin “interesting and newsworthy.” The way the college football landscape reacts to Kiffin’s actions makes that statement undisputable.
Kiffin makes his return to Oxford when LSU faces Ole Miss on Saturday night (7:30 p.m. E.T., ABC).
