The Ole Miss Rebels have 1 of the top 2 quarterbacks in the SEC, according to many analysts. Between Matt Corral and Georgia’s JT Daniels, there’s plenty of back-and-forth in the media about who will have the better 2021 season.
On Thursday, Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin heaped praise on Corral, saying some of his throws “looked like a video game.”
But then, in a nod to Nick Saban, Kiffin made sure to add that he didn’t want to “rat poison” Corral:
Here is what @Lane_Kiffin had to say about @corral_matt today. Kiffin said that, at times during practice this morning, Corral’s throws “looked like a video game.” But we also got another ?☠️. pic.twitter.com/WplBF1ENh5

“I don’t want to rat poison him, but he’s done a great job from a leadership standpoint,” Kiffin said. “And from an offensive standpoint, the guy’s accuracy is, I think I said, ‘insane’ today. Some of the throws that were made … it was at one point like a video game where there’s not an inaccurate throw.”
In 2020, Corral completed an impressive 70.9% of his passes. The problem was that he also threw 14 interceptions. If he can keep the accuracy up and avoid those big mistakes, he could have a special 2021 season.
