Lane Kiffin says ‘power of LSU’ helped Tigers sign top targets without full staff
Ever since Lane Kiffin stepped on campus at LSU, everything he’s touched has seemed to turn to gold.
The Bayou Bengals landed one of the top transfer portal classes in the country in January, and they put the finishing touches on one of the nation’s most touted recruiting classes on Wednesday.
Kiffin spoke to the media about what it took to pull in a class of this caliber while his staff was still in flux, and he applauded the weight that the LSU logo carries in his answer.
“LSU signed him. We didn’t even have a DL coach at the time. And they still signed with LSU,” Kiffin said, “That’s not because of Lane Kiffin. That’s because of the power of a place like LSU…That is a big reason why we are here.”
According to 247Sports, LSU’s 2026 recruiting class ranks 11th in its composite and is headline by a pair of 5-star defensive linemen. In-town product Lamar Brown remains at home as a well-documented commit, while New Orleans native Richard Anderson is another prized prospect in the trenches.
The prized signees, along with all other defensive linemen, will be coached by Sterling Lucas, who was hired away from South Carolina by Kiffin.
