Lane Kiffin spent 3 seasons as Nick Saban’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Alabama.
He helped the Crimson Tide capture the national championship in 2015 before becoming the head coach at Florida Atlantic and eventually the head coach at SEC rival Ole Miss. Kiffin has been the head coach at Ole Miss since 2020, where he’s still trying to get the Rebels over the hump and into position to win a national title in Oxford.
But those old Alabama ties die hard for the Kiffin family. As we head into the summer of 2025, all these years after Kiffin left Alabama following the 2016 season, Lane Kiffin’s son, Knox Kiffin, is spending this weekend in none other than Tuscaloosa. This doesn’t necessarily mean that the younger Kiffin will be one day playing quarterback for the Crimson Tide, but it certainly plants a seed.
Knox Kiffin is a 2028 quarterback recruit who’s currently playing at Oxford High School in Oxford, Miss., right down the road from where his father coaches. But this weekend he’s at a football camp in Tuscaloosa, and one has to wonder if this is the beginning of the process in getting another Kiffin to Tuscaloosa, all these years later.
Here is a picture of Kiffin with currently Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson:
Proud father Lane Kiffin posted these photos of the camp on his social media account that includes his son, who will be playing college football somewhere in 2028.
Here is the elder Kiffin’s post:
Time will tell where Knox Kiffin ends up throwing passes, and if this weekend was any kind of a premonition or just a stop along the way.
