LaNorris Sellers and South Carolina entered Saturday on a two-game winning streak and got off to a fast start as Sellers scored on a 15-yard touchdown to give the Gamecocks an early 7-0 lead. That lead didn’t last long as Sellers threw a pick-six to Kip Lewis, which allowed the Oklahoma Sooners to tie the game at 7.
However, Sellers responded in a big way. With the Gamecocks up 14-7 and facing a 3rd-and-12, he connected with DJ Black on an 84-yard pass later to give the Gamecocks a commanding 21-7 lead late in the first half.
Sellers was inconsistent to start the year for the Gamecocks, but he is showcasing why so many NFL people were so high on him in the off-season. When he is at his absolute best, he is as good a playmaker as there is at the position in college football. He is able to make plays with his arm, while also being a big-time rushing threat as well. In his last three games, he has rushed for four touchdowns and has made it extremely difficult for opposing defenses.
The Gamecocks right now look like the team that people were expecting in the off-season, and look like they can play with anybody in the SEC.
