LaNorris Sellers connects with Mazeo Bennett Jr. to give South Carolina lead over UF

LaNorris Sellers showed off his enormous passing potential on one huge touchdown throw late in the second quarter at The Swamp.

With South Carolina already pushing No. 16 Florida, as the favored Gators were locked in a 10-10 tie with the struggling Gamecocks, things got even more interesting when Sellers connected with Mazeo Bennett Jr. on a 12-yard scoring strike with 1:47 left before halftime. The TD pass was delivered by Sellers on a 2nd-and-10 play.

Suddenly, that shocking 10-10 tie was an even more shocking 17-10 South Carolina lead, which the Gamecocks carried into halftime in front of a stunned crowd. South Carolina (2-3) was still winless in the SEC as Week 6 approached, with an 0-3 record, but the Gamecocks were threatening to finally get on the board in conference play.

Meanwhile, Florida (4-1, 2-1 SEC) was sleepwalking through the first half at home after last week’s blowout loss at Mizzou, and the Sellers TD pass further put everyone in Gainesville on upset alert, at least at halftime.
