LaNorris Sellers and South Carolina picked up a huge win on Saturday, as the Gamecocks knocked off Tennessee, 27-24, on a 48-yard field goal by Malik Orsan. Sellers played a terrific game, going 18-of-32 for 210 yards and one touchdown. He also rushed for 96 yards, and a touchdown that was as impressive of plays as there was in Week 8.

Sellers knew that Tennessee has one of the best defenses in the country, but he told reporters the Gamecocks were able to find a way to get the win.

“It wasn’t pretty by any means, but that’s the way it is in the SEC,” Sellers said. “That’s a good defense, and we know we have a good offense. We really knew who wanted it more. We were really close, and we found a way.”

Just a couple of weeks ago, things looked very bleak for the Gamecocks. They were 2-3, coming off consecutive losses in which they lost games despite leading by 16 and 17 points. Superstar edge Dylan Stewart was suspended by Shane Beamer for conduct detrimental to the team, and Beamer himself was on the hot seat.

However, with Sellers leading the way, the Gamecocks have responded with wins against ranked teams in Florida and Tennessee.

There is still a long way to go in the 2026 season, but Sellers is showing the talent that had him among the top quarterback prospects in the country. Up next for the Gamecocks is a road game in Norman against the Oklahoma Sooners.
