The 2026 college football season is almost here. That means that in addition to gearing up for Saturdays on the gridiron, student-athletes are also getting ready for the new semester. LaNorris Sellers, however, doesn’t have to worry about any work in the classroom this fall.

An article by Hale McGranhan of Gamecock247 is getting national attention for the reveal that South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers does not have any classroom work this fall. Sellers’ only academic requirement this semester is an internship at a driving range, The Par Tee Golf Center in West Columbia.

“Just facility management and stuff like that, cutting grass and picking up balls like that,” Sellers said of his internship, per McGranahan.

The Gamecock captain is able to just have football and his internship for the semester because he is in line to graduate in December. Sellers is in Year 4 at South Carolina, but it’s clear that he got ahead of the standard academic pace of graduating with an undergraduate degree after five years.

Sellers enters Year 4 having started 24 games at the quarterback position over the past 2 seasons. He was recognized as the SEC Freshman of the Year by conference coaches after completing 65.6% of his passes for 2,534 yards, 18 touchdowns and 7 interceptions while rushing for 674 yards and 7 scores in 2024. Last year, Sellers completed 60.8% of his passes for 2,437 yards, 13 TDs and 8 interceptions, rushing for 270 yards and 5 scores. Sellers hopes to get back on track under new South Carolina offensive coordinator Kendal Briles.
