LaNorris Sellers reveals OC Mike Shula’s fake poop punishment
LaNorris Sellers got to the heart of the matter during Tuesday’s press conference.
The South Carolina star quarterback might have been referring to another part of the human body, but when it came down to it, he was revealing that new offensive coordinator Mike Shula was only trying to teach hard lessons to his QBs. Shula, was named the Gamecocks’ offensive coordinator last December, has found a very vivid — if not totally real — way to get his quarterbacks’ attention.
Sellers, who had a breakout season last year as a redshirt freshman, is trying to follow it up with an even stronger sophomore season. What he revealed to reporters on Tuesday should only help that cause.
And what he revealed is that Shula has a fake piece of poop in his office. Shula doesn’t have this for some funny decoration or anything. It has a football meaning, too, which Sellers also revealed. Sellers said that when the Gamecock quarterbacks are watching film and one of the QBs screws up, Shula tells that quarterback to grab the poop because, as he says: “You just took a crap right on my desk.”
Here is video of Sellers spilling the beans about the poop:
“It looks like real poop,” said Sellers with a wry smile to reporters during his explanation.
Sellers revealed that the quarterbacks physically leave the film room, go into Shula’s office and get the fake poop off his desk when the punishment arrives.
Talk about motivation to not make mistakes in practice. When Sellers or one of the other quarterbacks does make a gaffe, one wonders if what might await them in the next film session is immediately on their mind.
