Following a rough loss to Mississippi State, LSU coach Les Miles says that freshman quarterback Brandon Harris will get more playing time after nearly bringing the Tigers all the way back.

Harris led a late fourth quarter comeback, throwing 2 TD passes in the final 2 minutes of the game, with the rally falling short on a last-second Hail Mary throw. While Anthony Jennings will remain the starter, Miles said that he expects more playing time for Harris.

“We will play in a like fashion that we have in the past, with Brandon Harris getting a little more playing time,” Miles said. “I think Brandon Harris came in and gave us a great lift. He is certainly coming. He’s improving regularly.”

Jennings went down with a shoulder injury late against Mississippi State, but Miles said the sophomore quarterback was practicing normally already and will be ready to go against New Mexico State.

“I think Anthony Jennings is still a guy who is recognizing he needs to improve and get better,” Miles said. “I can’t imagine both won’t make strides. They are competing, and that’s just what we want.”
