Les Miles propositions Steve Spurrier for bet on LSU-Florida game

It has been two years since Les Miles coached LSU, and nearly two decades since Steve Spurrier did the same at Florida.

But the two coaches are still both quite outspoken in their support of their respective former schools, enough to potentially bet on this weekend’s game between the Tigers and Gators.

In a tweet sent to Spurrier on Tuesday, Miles offered to place a wager on the huge cross-division rivalry. Spurrier hasn’t responded as of Tuesday afternoon, but it’s hard to imagine the Head Ball Coach passing on this bet.

The last time the coaches faced off on the field was in 2015, when Miles’ Tigers defeated Spurrier-led South Carolina. Two days later, Spurrier announced his retirement, effective immediately, though he will coach the Orlando Apollos of the new Alliance of American Football league this season.

Miles was reportedly going to be fired at the end of the 2015 season, only to save his job with two late wins and an uprising of public support. He made it only four games into the following year before being shown the door.

But Miles has remained a fervent LSU supporter, much like Spurrier is with Florida. If their continued fandom results in a bet, we certainly won’t be disappointed with it.
