Good, old-fashioned SEC hate never takes an offseason.

A local radio station in Lexington, Kentucky, trolled Tennessee fans in a creative way during a Thursday night broadcast. LEX18, the local NBC affiliate, set up a segment on cicadas by asking its viewers which was more annoying: the loud summer bugs or Volunteer fans.

They even set up an online poll for fans to vote in.

“We want to hear your reaction, which is why we’re asking you to vote right now in our live poll. We want to know what is more annoying, cicadas or Tennessee fans,” LEX18 anchor Larry Smith said with a smirk.

The Volunteers got 69% of the vote.

Seems a little biased.

But folks in Lexington have plenty of reasons to be annoyed with the Vols. Tennessee football beat Kentucky 28-18 last season — the Vols’ fourth consecutive win in the series. UT has won 37 of the last 40 football matchups with Kentucky. The Vols also ended Kentucky’s 2024-25 men’s basketball season in the Sweet 16 with a 78-65 victory. Kentucky baseball took the regular-season series over the Vols in Knoxville, but the Wildcats’ season ended in the Regional final last Sunday. Tennessee is still fighting for a trip to the College World Series.
