Good, old-fashioned SEC hate never takes an offseason.

A local radio station in Lexington, Kentucky, trolled Tennessee fans in a creative way during a Thursday night broadcast. LEX18, the local NBC affiliate, set up a segment on cicadas by asking its viewers which was more annoying: the loud summer bugs or Volunteer fans.

They even set up an online poll for fans to vote in.

โ€œWe want to hear your reaction, which is why weโ€™re asking you to vote right now in our live poll. We want to know what is more annoying, cicadas or Tennessee fans,โ€ LEX18 anchor Larry Smith said with a smirk.

The Volunteers got 69% of the vote.

Seems a little biased.

But folks in Lexington have plenty of reasons to be annoyed with the Vols. Tennessee football beat Kentucky 28-18 last season โ€”ย the Vols’ fourth consecutive win in the series. UT has won 37 of the last 40 football matchups with Kentucky. The Vols also ended Kentucky’s 2024-25 men’s basketball season in the Sweet 16 with a 78-65 victory. Kentucky baseball took the regular-season series over the Vols in Knoxville, but the Wildcats’ season ended in the Regional final last Sunday. Tennessee is still fighting for a trip to the College World Series.
