Liam Doyle’s terrific 2025 season has earned him Perfect Game’s Pitcher of the Year, it was announced Tuesday.

Doyle transferred to Tennessee after a season each with Coastal Carolina and Ole Miss. And the left-hander from New Hampshire, who broke the Volunteeers’ single-season strikeout record on June 2, was a key part of a Vols team that won 46 games despite a 16-14 record in SEC play.

In 19 appearances and 17 starts, Doyle pitched to a 10-4 record with a 3.20 ERA across 95.2 innings. He led the SEC in strikeouts (163) and was 3rd in innings pitched while standing as one of 5 SEC pitchers with at least 10 wins. He was ultimately named the SEC Pitcher of the Year and was a 1st-team All-SEC selection.

Doyle hasn’t officially declared for July’s MLB Draft, but he’s widely expected to do so. If and when he does, he’ll be considered one of the top picks, certainly in the Top 10 but as high as 2nd, according to MLB.com’s Jonathan Mayo.

The Vols, meanwhile, were an at-large selection to the NCAA Tournament and eventually fell to Arkansas in Super Regionals. Doyle took the loss in Game 2, going 3.2 innings while giving up 5 runs, striking out 6 and walking 2.
