Great news for Florida on Friday as incoming transfer running back from Miami Lorenzo Lingard has received word from the NCAA that he is eligible to play for the Gators immediately in the fall.

“Approved to play this year, best birthday gift ever. God is good,” he posted online.

Lingard transferred into Gainesville after spending two seasons with the Hurricanes. Lingard signed with Miami after being ranked as the nation’s No. 2 running back in the 2018 recruiting cycle. During his two seasons on the field for the Hurricanes, Lingard rushed for 136 yards on 14 carries — which all came during his freshman season back in 2018.

The running back’s freshman season was cut short by a season-ending injury and he appeared in just two games during the 2019 season with Miami.

With Lingard eligible to play this season, he immediately factors into the race to be Florida’s starting running back next season along with Dameon Pierce and Malik Davis.

Check out his senior year highlights to get an idea why he was such a touted prospect coming out of high school.
