Louisiana governor Jeff Landry is meeting with LSU‘s Board of Supervisors regarding the future of head coach Brian Kelly and athletic director Scott Woodward, according to a report by college football insider Matt Fortuna on Sunday night.

According to Fortuna, there was a tense meeting between Kelly and Woodward on Sunday afternoon that got heated when Woodward asked Kelly to fire offensive coordinator Joe Sloan. The LSU offense has struggled mightily, especially the running game, and it was apparent again in Saturday night’s blowout loss to Texas A&M.

Fortuna’s report also suggested that Kelly told Woodward that he would fire offensive line coach Brad Davis as well, and that sparked a heated response from Woodward. Kelly then left the building and the meeting with Woodward, according to the report.

Now, it appears that both Kelly and Woodward have their jobs in jeopardy, with the governor of the state presiding over their futures with LSU’s Board of Supervisors.

Kelly has been the head coach at LSU since 2022 but has heard the groans of an angry fan base, some of which stuck around on Saturday night just to chant “Fire Kelly!” as the head coach came off the field following the Tigers’ latest loss in a big spot.
