LSU football added a depth piece to its 2026 roster on Saturday night, claiming a commitment from former Georgia Military College cornerback Lavonte Williams. Despite being a transfer addition, he’ll be eligible to play immediately this season because of his JUCO roots and will enroll in the Summer.
Williams, who hails from South Carolina, appeared in 11 games last season for George Military College, totaling 1 interception with 17 tackles and 5 pass breakups. He stands at 6-foot-3, 180 pounds and excels as a man-to-man corner.
LSU has a pair of strong cornerbacks that are likely to play ahead of Williams, but the JUCO prospect should see the field immediately in a reserve role. The Tigers are expected to start PJ Woodland and DJ Pickett at corner with Dashawn Spears set to start in the Tigers’ Star nickel role.
Williams’ addition is a welcome one because of the injury to rising star Aidan Anding during LSU’s spring game. Anding went up for an interception and came down awkwardly, resulting in a torn Achilles. Because of this, he’s expected to miss the entire 2026-27 season.
