LSU adds pledge from in-conference QB out of transfer portal

LSU may have fond its answer at QB following the incoming departure of Jayden Daniels to the NFL Draft.
The Tigers earned a commitment from former Vanderbilt quarterback AJ Swann Monday, a strong move to land a veteran SEC QB. Swann originally had buzz to commit to South Carolina, but LSU emerged late to earn the commitment.
The phrase “Vanderbilt” may cause some to look sideways at this move, but make no mistake: Swann is talented. The sophomore QB will have 2 seasons of eligibility remaining after totaling 2,731 passing yards with 22 touchdowns and 9 interceptions across just 15 games in 2022 and 2023.

Swann shared starting duties with Ken Seals as he struggled to stay healthy behind a dreadful Vanderbilt offensive line. He appeared on just 6 games this season and only 9 games in 2022.
When Swann has time in the pocket he’s shown a knack for being an accurate QB with an impressive arm. He’s not the most athletic option at QB in the portal, but he should be a strong option for Brian Kelly and Co next season.
