The LSU Tigers are getting set to take on the Clemson Tigers in a massive Week 1 showdown under the lights down in Baton Rouge this Saturday in what will be the first game of the Lane Kiffin era.

The hype surrounding this matchup has been building all offseason, and Kiffin’s recent antics have only added to the intrigue surrounding this heavyweight bout.

With kickoff only a few days away, the Bayou Bengals have officially announced who their guest captains will be this Saturday when they take the field at Death Valley on the official LSU football X account.

Per the post, 2 members of the Tigers’ legendary 2019 national championship-winning squad will be honored as guest captains: running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire and defensive tackle Rashard Lawrence, alongside LSU legend and NFL Hall of Fame offensive lineman Kevin Mawae.

Edwards-Helaire was the bellcow back for the Tigers during their iconic 2019 run while Lawrence anchored an extremely underrated defensive front for that all-time great team. Mawae, a legend in his own right, played at LSU from 1989-1993 before going on to a 16-year Hall of Fame career in the NFL.

These 3 names represent some of the biggest stars in LSU history, and they’ll be leading their Alma Mater onto the field this Saturday when the Tigers take on Clemson in Death Valley.
