LSU baseball is off to a hot start in 2023.
The Tigers completed a season-opening sweep of Western Michigan on Sunday afternoon, winning 9-2. They also won 10-0 on Friday and 5-3 on Saturday.

LSU was projected to be one of the best teams in the SEC this season, and so far the Tigers are living up to the hype. Their pitching staff was especially dominant, limiting the Broncos to just 5 runs across 3 games this weekend.
Paul Skenes and Riley Cooper both earned wins in their 1st starts of the season. They combined for 19 strikeouts and 0 earned runs across 11.2 innings pitched. On Sunday, Chase Shores got the start and gave up 1 run in 3.1 innings of work. The bullpen did the rest, limiting Western Michigan to just 1 hit over the final 5.2 innings.
Offensively, LSU was led by Gavin Dugas. He led the team with 2 home runs this weekend and went 6-for-8 at the plate. Here’s video of his home run on Sunday:

LSU will be in action again on Tuesday against Southern.
